20,000 screaming fans mobbed the streets of the Paramount Theater in New York on July 4, 1951. From their hotel window Dean and Jerry showered the crowd with clothes, autographed pictures and even money. Jerry tossed a thousand one dollar bills out the window! By the end of their two weeks performing at the Paramount, they had made over $300,000, breaking Frank Sinatra’s box office record. America couldn’t get enough of Martin and Lewis.

“We just  want everybody to know that we’re the happiest guys in the whole whole world. This is the greatest thrill of our lives. This is unbelievable!” -Dean Martin
